So, with Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to show your team how much you appreciate them.
We hear all the time, “Why should I have to show my appreciation when I’m paying them to do their #%$(@* job?”
Perhaps, logic says that a paycheck is adequate compensation for a job well done, but human emotions and logic are often at odds. So, one can stand their ground, or have a happy team with high performance.
Which sounds better to you?
Here are a few ways to show your team a little love:
- A simple, sincere ‘Thank you’ goes a long way to demonstrate your appreciation. Some people say they don’t need it, but they’re lying.
- Feedback: A little more tricky, but great for letting your employees or volunteers know how much their efforts mean to the success of the organization. “What you did helped us wow our customer. Nice job!”
- A surprise party! A little celebration lunch with pizza or, our favorite, Mexican, catered in. It’s even better if the leadership team does the serving.
- A gift: Something simple like a $50 gift certificate to let people know that you’ve noticed how hard they are working is great. It’s unexpected and it will make them feel good that you recognized them.
The key is to keep it sincere no matter how you decide to show your appreciation.
